Katie Bleeker is a recent stay at home mom with a wonderful husband and two young children; a daughter Gemma (2 years old) and a son Tatum (2 months old). She has been helping spread a love for literacy as an independent consultant with Usborne Books & More for the past 2 years. Prior to staying home Katie was a special education teacher for the deaf/hard of hearing.
Katie received her Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University in 2011 along with her Michigan elementary teacher certification with endorsements in special education for the deaf/hard of hearing and early childhood education. Katie’s past teaching experiences for children with hearing loss include Kindergarten - 2nd grade at the St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf - Indianapolis, preschool/early intervention with Berrien Springs Oral Deaf program and a 2 year old classroom/early intervention with the Grand Rapids Oral Deaf program. She has also been involved with the Michigan Alexander Graham Bell Association (MI AG Bell) since 2013 and the past director of the MI AG Bell summer camp for five years. Lastly, Katie presented at the MI AG Bell Professional Fall Conference in October 2019 on the topic of “Pragmatics in Young Children with Hearing Loss and the use of Children’s Literature to Teach These Skills”.
